About Massena
Founded in 1886, Massena, Iowa, was named by its settlers in honor of their former home in Massena, New York. While our origins are tied to the expansion of the railroad and the richness of the Iowa soil, our identity has always been defined by our people. We are a community of neighbors who show up for one another - whether it’s at a Red Sox baseball game or a local fundraiser.

History of Massena
While Massena was almost named "Smith," our founders, including a Civil War veteran named Lume A. Stone, ultimately decided on a name that honored a legacy of service and history. Today, we remain a hub for the local agricultural industry while offering a peaceful pace of life for our 350+ residents.
Education & Child Care
We believe that a strong community begins with a strong foundation for our children. From their first steps in early logic and play to their transition into elementary excellence, Massena provides the nurturing environment every young "Cougar" needs to thrive.

CAM Community School District
Massena is proud to be part of the CAM (Cumberland, Anita, and Massena) Community School District, where our children are at the heart of everything we do. As the home of CAM Elementary School, Massena serves as the foundational campus for the district’s youngest learners.

CAM Cubs Child Care
We also take great pride in supporting our working families through CAM Cubs, our child care center located within the elementary building. From the first days at CAM Cubs to the transition into kindergarten and beyond, being a CAM Cougar is a lifelong identity rooted in our town’s tradition of academic excellence and community spirit.
